Article 26 of the Declaration of Human Rights states that “Everyone has the right to Education”. Keele University are committed to supporting students from all backgrounds to access Higher Education and provide scholarships for asylum seekers and forced migrants who are seeking sanctuary in the UK. 

The award

Here at Keele we believe that everyone has the right to education and are working to ensure that asylum seekers and students from a forced migrant background are able to access Higher Education. Successful applicants for the 2025/26 Article 26 Sanctuary Scholarship at Keele University will be provided with: 

• A full tuition fee waiver for up to 4 years.

• A cash award of £1200 each year towards living costs.

• An additional award of £250 towards course costs each year of study to be loaded onto the student’s Keele card.

• Personal support will also be available for each successful student to enable them to identify and overcome barriers to achievement on their degree programme.

Applications for the 2025/26 Article 26 Sanctuary Scholarship fund are open between 20 January 2025 - 25 April 2025 17:00 BST.

Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at UK universities.

The award

Chevening scholarships are open to applicants from over 160 countries and territories around the world, looking to study an eligible one year taught master’s degree at a UK institution. To apply for a Chevening scholarship you must have:

• Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.

• Commit to returning to your home country for at least two years after your scholarship ends.

• Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.

• Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master's programme.

• Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by the deadline listed on the application timeline.

GREAT Scholarships are jointly funded by Keele University with the UK Government’s GREAT Britain campaign and the British Council.

The award

This scholarship scheme is part of the GREAT Scholarships campaign, which has been launched by the British Council together with UK universities to support more students to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

Business and Computing

We are offering £10,000 towards tuition fees for any one-year master’s programme In Business and Computing. This will be available to students from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh who will enrol at Keele University in September 2025. One scholarship per country is available. 

Law and Justice

We are offering £10,000 towards tuition fees for any one-year master’s programme in Law. This will be available to students from Nigeria and Ghana who will enrol at Keele University in September 2025. One scholarship per country is available.

Exceptions

• This scholarship is not available for students studying fully online courses delivered by Keele. 

Qualifying recipients of the scholarship will receive the award in the form of a tuition fee discount. No cash alternative is available, and the award cannot be used in place of any required deposit. 

This scholarship cannot be combined with any other awards. 

September 2025 entry application deadline

• Applications closed on 16 May 2025 at 23:59 BST.

• Successful award holders are due to be informed by 30 June 2025.

The award 

Awards of £1,000 for international students undertaking the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

Eligibility  

• Enrolled undergraduate international students who exceed 36 overall in International Baccalaureate Diploma or H6, H6, H6 will automatically be awarded the scholarship as a tuition fee discount. 

• Only self-funding international students are eligible and you must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes. The scholarship is not open to students who are in receipt of funding from external bodies such as local Government, charities or private organisations. 

• The Scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students who will be based at Keele University and start their studies in September 2025. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry. 

Exceptions 

The scholarship is not available for students on the following programmes: 

• entering Foundation Year study.

• Medicine programmes.

• Programmes delivered through the Harper and Keele Veterinary School.

The scholarship is not available for students studying fully online courses delivered by Keele. 

The award

The Keele Alumni Discount is a 20% discount of the tuition fee charged for Keele Alumni (10% for online programmes).

The Keele Alumni Discount is a reduction of 20% off the total tuition fees for any taught postgraduate course leading to a named award of at least Postgraduate Diploma at Keele University. Eligibility will be assessed prior to enrolment and students who are to receive the award will be notified of the discount being applied on the CAS.

For students studying a programme delivered fully online, the same eligibility criteria as for UK students will apply and the reduction will be 10%.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the Keele Alumni Discount, you must fulfil the following criteria: 

• You must have graduated from Keele University (including students who have completed Keele degrees overseas) with either an undergraduate degree, a postgraduate degree award (of at least 120 credits or a full Master's degree) or the Keele Certificate in Counselling. All Keele graduates who meet the aforementioned criteria are eligible to receive the discount, regardless of their original graduation date.  

• You must be registered on, and attending, a taught postgraduate course that equates to at least one year's full-time study at postgraduate study at postgraduate level and leads to a named award of at least Postgraduate Diploma level at Keele University. Students taking a taught postgraduate course with Keele University to at least 120 credits will be eligible for consideration for the discount. The award will be offered for some lower credit courses providing total credit study within the academic year exceeds 40 credits.  

• Students who take the MA in Social Work, and are not in receipt of external funding, or receive partial tuition fee funding from the NHSBA, may be eligible to receive the Alumni Discount on the proportion of the fee they pay as an individual. Social Work students in receipt of a fully funded place are not eligible to receive the Keele Alumni Discount.

• The Scholarship is for students who will be based at Keele University and start their studies in September 2025 or January 2026. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry.  

Exceptions

• You must not be taking a course that is fully funded by the Teaching Agency, the NHS or any other organisation/employer. If your course is partly funded by an external organisation/employer, discounts will only be applied to the proportion of fees you pay as an individual.

The award

Students who have gained the following programme average percentages from the Keele University International College Pre-Master's Programme will automatically be awarded the scholarship as a tuition fee discount: 

• 70% and above - £5,000 

• 60% - 69% - £4,000 

• 50% - 59% - £3,000  

Eligibility

• You must be registered on, and attending, a taught postgraduate course that equates to at least one year's full-time study at postgraduate level and leads to a named award of at least Postgraduate Diploma level at Keele University. This means, for example, that students who attain, or are registered on, a Postgraduate Certificate course, will not receive an award. 

• Only self-funded international students are eligible, and you must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes. The Scholarship is not open to students who are in receipt of funding from external bodies such as local government, charities or private organisations. 

• The Scholarship is for students who will be based at Keele University and start their studies in September 2025 or January 2026. It is also applicable to the full-time MBA intake in May 2025. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry.

Exceptions

• Students registered for a PhD or an MPhil are not eligible to receive an award. 

• The Scholarship is not available for students studying fully online courses delivered by Keele. 

The award

Enrolled international students who have achieved the following undergraduate awards in their undergraduate study will automatically be awarded the scholarship as a tuition fee discount: 

• 1st - £5,000

• 2:1 - £4,000

• 2:2 - £3,000

This will be assessed as per the University's defined equivalence.

Eligibility

• You must be registered on, and attending, a taught postgraduate course that equates to at least one year's full-time study at postgraduate level and leads to a named award of at least Postgraduate Diploma level at Keele University. This means, for example, that students who attain, or are registered on, a Postgraduate Certificate course, will not receive an award. Students registered for a PhD or an MPhil are not eligible to receive an award. 

• Students who take the MA in Social Work, and are not in receipt of external funding, or receive partial tuition fee funding from the NHSBSA, may be eligible to receive the Postgraduate Global Scholarship on the proportion of the fee they pay as an individual. Social Work students in receipt of a fully funded place are not eligible to receive the Postgraduate Global Scholarship.

• The Postgraduate Global Scholarship is generally a one-time award. The award will only be awarded once except for students studying MSc Nursing or MSc Prosthetics and Orthotics where the award may be given twice to cover both years of study in these two-year programmes.

• Only self-funded international students are eligible, and you must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes. The Scholarship is not open to students who are in receipt of funding from external bodies such as local government, charities or private organisations.

• The Scholarship is for students who will be based at Keele University and start their studies in September 2025 or January 2026. It is also applicable to the full-time MBA intake in May 2025. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry.

Exceptions

The award is not available for students studying the following programmes: 

• Medicine

• PGCE

The Scholarship is not available for students studying fully online courses delivered by Keele.

The award

The Advanced Entry Scholarship is awarded to enrolled undergraduate international students who exceed the published entry requirements on entry and who start their studies at Keele University part way through their undergraduate degree (after the first year).  

Awards of £3,000 will be awarded towards the tuition fee for the year of entry for students who exceed published entry requirements. 

If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in any subsequent year of study, then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the following year’s tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in any subsequent year of study, then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the following year’s tuition fee.

Eligibility

• Enrolled undergraduate international students who exceed the published entry requirements (as per the website for the year of entry) will automatically be awarded the scholarship as a tuition fee discount.

• Enrolled undergraduate international students accepted at or below the published entry criteria will be awarded a £1,000 scholarship and then they would follow the yearly assessment as outlined above. 

• Only students who are starting studies at Keele, having studied at a different institution, are eligible for this award.

• Only self-funding international students are eligible and you must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes. The scholarship is not open to students who are in receipt of funding from external bodies such as local Government, charities or private organisations

• The Scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students who will be based at Keele University and start their studies in September 2025. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry.  

Exceptions

The scholarship is not available for students on the following programmes:

• Medicine programmes

• Programmes delivered through the Harper and Keele Veterinary School

Students transferring from one programme at Keele to another programme at Keele are not eligible for this award.

The scholarship is not available for students studying top-up degrees.

The scholarship is not available for students studying fully online courses delivered by Keele. 

The award

The Undergraduate Global Scholarship is awarded to students who exceed the published entry requirements on entry.

Year 1

Awards of £5,000 will be awarded towards the Year 1 (Level 4) tuition fee for students who exceed published entry requirements on entry.

Year 2

If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in Year 1 (Level 4), then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the Year 2 (Level 5) tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in Year 1 (Level 4), then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the Year 2 (Level 5) tuition fee.

Year 3

If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in Year 2 (Level 5), then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the Year 3 (Level 6) tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in Year 2 (Level 5), then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the Year 3 (Level 6) tuition fee.

Year 4 (if applicable)

If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in Year 3 (Level 6), then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the Year 4 (Level 7) tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in Year 3 (Level 6), then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the Year 4 (Level 7) tuition fee.

Eligibility

• Enrolled undergraduate international students who exceed the published entry requirements (as per the prospectus for the year of entry) will automatically be awarded the scholarship as a tuition fee discount.

• Only self-funding international students are eligible and you must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes. The scholarship is not open to students who are in receipt of funding from external bodies such as local Government, charities or private organisations.

• The scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students who will be based at Keele University and start their studies in September 2025. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry.

• One-year top-up degree courses are also eligible for the Scholarship, as long as all course and applicant-related terms and conditions are met.

Exceptions

The scholarship is not available for students on the following programmes:

• entering Foundation Year study.

• Medicine programmes.

• Programmes delivered through the Harper and Keele Veterinary School.

The scholarship is not available for students studying fully online courses delivered by Keele. 

Progression from Keele University International College (KUIC)

KUIC Foundation year

Students who successfully complete the KUIC Foundation Year will qualify for the Undergraduate Global Scholarship.

KUIC International Year 1

Students who successfully complete the KUIC International Year 1 progress to year 2 of the undergraduate degree at Keele. They will qualify at year 2 stage of the Undergraduate Global Scholarship if they meet the below percentage criteria:

• 60% - 69% - £1,000

• 70% and above - £2,000
