In partnership with the University of Dundee, Al-Maktoum College Dundee are providing living support bursaries for applicants joining an MSc Islamic Finance course (or pathway) in the 2025/26 academic year.

The scholarship is worth £3,000 and will be paid in 10 monthly instalments of £300 after you have started your course.

To be eligible, you must already have been awarded one of the University of Dundee Scholarships listed in the eligibility section. If you have not received one of these scholarships, then you are not eligible for the Al-Maktoum Living Support bursary.

The University of Dundee provides up to £3,000 for Alumni Students. If you meet the following criteria, then you will be eligible to receive the scholarship:

• Have applied to study a full (180 credit) postgraduate taught course  

• Your course starts in September 2025.

• Have graduated from the University of Dundee, having previously completed a full undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree

Visiting students: if you have studied at the UoD on an Exchange or Study Abroad route for a minimum of 1 semester, you may be eligible for the Alumni scholarship.

If you are studying a full (180 credit) postgraduate course on a part-time basis, you may be eligible for the Alumni scholarship. For full eligibility criteria please see the below 'Key Facts' document. 

If you are not a direct graduate of the University of Dundee, but someone in your immediate family is, then you are also eligible for this Scholarship. If you meet the following criteria, then you will be eligible to apply for this scholarship:

• Have applied to study a full (180 credit) postgraduate taught course.

• Your course starts in September 2025.

• Have an immediate family member who has studied at the University of Dundee, having completed a full undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree. Immediate family members include Siblings, Children, Parents and Spouses.

Where eligible, this scholarship can be combined with one of the following scholarships: 

• Global Excellence or

• Global Citizenship or

• Vice-Chancellor's Scholarships (one region only)

Only one Alumni award can be awarded, either the direct graduate award or family award.

• a Postgraduate taught course which is less than 180 credits

• a Distance Learning course

• a PhD course

then unfortunately you are not eligible. 

If you have previously completed a research placement/internship at the University of Dundee (minimum 3 months), or have completed a full year of study through the International College Dundee, you may be eligible for the Alumni scholarship. Please see attached documents for full eligibility criteria.

The value of this scholarship varies depending on your fee status: 

• For Home and RUK applicants the value of the scholarship is £1,500 GBP, for 1 year only

• For International applicants, the value of the scholarship is £3,000 GBP, for 1 year only.

Chevening is the UK Government’s global scholarship programme that offers future leaders the unique opportunity to study in the UK. These scholarships are awarded to outstanding professionals from all over the world to pursue a one-year master’s degree in any subject at any UK university. 

To be eligible to submit an application for a Chevening Scholarship, you must: 

• Be a citizen of a Chevening eligible country or territory. 

• Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended. 

• Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at the University of Dundee by the time you submit your application. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK. 

• Have at least two years of work experience. 

• Have received an unconditional offer from the University of Dundee by 11 July 2025.

The University of Dundee GEMS Scholarship is awarded to students studying at a GEMS Education Schools whilst applying to an Undergraduate course at the University of Dundee.

To be considered for a scholarship, you must:

• Have an offer to study a full-time, on campus undergraduate course of 120 credits per year in any school at the University of Dundee for September 2025 (excluding School of Medicine and School of Dentistry). The University of Dundee is proud to announce that for the second year running, we are awarding the Jainti Dass Saggar Memorial Scholarship. This is available to any Indian domiciled student who wishes to study for an undergraduate degree in any subject starting in 2025-26, there is one award available. 

In order to be considered to apply for the award, the applicant must meet the following criteria: 

• studying an Undergraduate programme in any of the University of Dundee’s Academic Schools in September 2025

• Indian domiciled

• met the criteria for a Global Excellence Scholarship or a South Asian Regional Scholarship 

• have firmly accepted our offer of a place to study with us

• submit an application form

This scholarship which will be awarded to an Indian domiciled student who wishes to study for an undergraduate degree in any subject starting in September 2025. The winner of the scholarship will receive a single payment of an additional £5,000 on top of the South Asia Regional Scholarship (which is worth £4,000 per year) or the Global Excellence Scholarship (worth £5,000 per year).  

The scholarship is named to honour one of the University of Dundee’s early Indian students who went on to use his education to help transform the lives of people living in the city of Dundee. Born in northern India (1898) he transferred his medical studies to the Medical School in Dundee and graduated in 1923. 

Subsequently, he became a local GP and proceeded to gain diplomas in ophthalmic medicine, public health, and surgery. He served on the Boards of various education and welfare bodies and was elected Town Councillor in 1936. He served the city of Dundee as a Councillor for eighteen years until his death in 1954. 

On his death, the Lord Provost of Dundee, William Hughes, said: 'He was a man of compassion for everyone in need…he came to Dundee from halfway across the world but no son of Dundee had greater love for its people or worked harder in their interest. Dundee is much poorer by his passing'. His contribution to the city was also marked a Dundee street being named in his memory.
