September 2025: Up to £8,000 for Bachelor’s students and £3,000 for Master’s students.

Aberystwyth Regional Scholarships for Undergraduate Students:

• Students must be applying for an undergraduate programme.

• Students must reside in one of the listed eligible countries.

• Students will be eligible for a £2,000 reduction in tuition fees for each year of their studies at Aberystwyth University.

• This scholarship can be combined with the International Accommodation Award (IAA). 

• Students must be international-fee payers.

• Students must be self-funding and not in receipt of any other Scholarships, apart from the IAA.

• Students should meet the University’s usual entry requirements. 

Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Postgraduate Students : 

• Students must be applying for a postgraduate programme to receive this prestigious Scholarship.

• Students must reside in one of the countries eligible for the Aberystwyth Regional Scholarships.

• Students with an equivalent of a UK First Honours degree will be eligible for a £3,000 discount.

• Students with an equivalent of a UK Upper Second (2:1) or Lower Second (2:2) degree will receive a £2,000 discount.

• This scholarship can be combined with the International Accommodation Award (IAA). 

• Students must be international-fee payers.

• Students must be self-funding and not in receipt of any other Scholarships, apart from the IAA.

• Students should meet the University’s usual entry requirements. 

Eligibility  

• These scholarships are restricted to students who are overseas fee payers and are entirely self-funded (students in receipt of a repayable loan to fund their studies are considered as self-funded).

• Students must be ordinarily resident (see below for the definition of ordinary residence) in one of the countries listed below. 

• The award cannot be held in conjunction with any other Aberystwyth University awards, bursaries or scholarships, apart from the International Accommodation Award.  

Students who are not eligible  

The following students are NOT eligible for this scholarship regardless of meeting the above criteria:  

• Students undertaking a programme of study normally delivered fully online.

• BVSc Veterinary Science or BSc Nursing students.

• Deferring students. Where a scholarship has been awarded to a student who subsequently defers entry to the following academic year, the award will be withdrawn and the applicant will be considered again in-line with the terms and conditions that apply in the new proposed year of entry. 

• Applicants entering the second or third year as their first year of study with Aberystwyth. 

• Students who are resitting a year and therefore may not be paying full fees.

• Students who are fully or partly sponsored.

• Students who are assessed as Home-fee payers. 

• Current students whose first year of undergraduate study at Aberystwyth University, was prior to academic year 2025-26.

Whether studying a Bachelors or a Masters, all international students are eligible* for our International Accommodation Award.

We are delighted to provide international fee-paying students with our International Accommodation Award. This award means that for students who choose to live in our on-campus Cwrt Mawr blocks, the cost of housing is fully covered within their tuition fees at no extra cost.

This housing Scholarship is applicable for the duration of the taught element of your studies if you are studying a Bachelors degree, Masters degree or a Foundation course. In some cases PhD students may also be eligible.  

We have plenty of availability, however, a room in Cwrt Mawr is not guaranteed, and is allocated on a first-come first-served basis, both for new and returning students. Students must apply for accommodation by the stated deadlines to be eligible for a room.  

The University offers a variety of accommodation buildings, but the housing scholarship is applicable only to Cwrt Mawr. All other accommodation options are charged at full price. 

Our Cwrt Mawr accommodation is mainly available to international students, though it is not exclusively reserved for them. International students who book Cwrt Mawr can expect to share with mostly other international students.

All on-campus rooms include the cost of utility bills, Wi-Fi, and free Platinum gym membership at the University’s Sports Centre.  

All on-campus rooms are single occupancy, meaning you will need to find alternative private accommodation in town if you plan to live in Aberystwyth with family members or other dependants. 

If you are a current student who started your course before September 2025, you will still qualify for the £2,000 discount for the duration of your course.

Terms and Conditions

• BSc Nursing students are not eligible to receive the International Accommodation Award. 

• The International Accommodation Award is only available for students paying international tuition fees.  

• Whilst we will make every effort to accommodate all international students, room allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis and rooms on campus are not guaranteed. 

• Bachelors students will be able to live in their allocated room for 39 or 40 weeks per year. If staying in Aberystwyth between academic years, alternative accommodation on campus, or in private accommodation elsewhere, is necessary over the summer months between June and September when the next term begins.  

• Masters students will be able to live in their allocated room for 50 weeks. If they wish to stay in Aberystwyth for longer, they must find alternative accommodation on campus or in private accommodation elsewhere.  

• Eligible PhD students will be able to live in their allocated room for 50 weeks per year. There will be two weeks in September where they must find alternative accommodation on campus or private accommodation elsewhere. 

• In order to choose and secure a room through the Accommodation Portal, students must have accepted their offer of study, and paid their tuition fee deposit if asked to do so. Students must familiarise themselves with the University’s deposit policy before making a payment. This deposit makes up part of the tuition fees.  

• There is no housing on campus for students with dependants (family members). All rooms on campus are single occupancy only. Therefore, students planning to travel with dependants will need to find private accommodation in Aberystwyth town and will not be eligible for the International Accommodation Award. • PhD students will only be eligible for the International Accommodation Award if they meet all the conditions below:  

• The student is self-funding at least 50% of their tuition fees i.e. they are not in receipt of another scholarship covering more than 50% of their tuition fees. 

• The student will be paying for their own living costs i.e. they are not receiving any stipend for their living expenses. 

• The student is not bringing any family or dependants with them. 

Aberystwyth University has a strong connection with its current students and alumni, and often sees generations of families following in the footsteps of their relatives to complete their degrees with us. For this reason, we have developed the International Family Award.

If you are a new, international student (paying international tuition fees) and one of your family relatives studied, or is studying, a degree at Aberystwyth University, you may be eligible for the International Family Award – giving you a £1,000 reduction in tuition fees for every year of your studies.

Terms and Conditions

• To be eligible for the International Family Award, you must submit your application to study directly to the University, without using the services of an education agent. 

• You must be a new student, classed as an international fee- payer to be eligible for the International Family Award;

• To be eligible for the Award, your relative must be a parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt/uncle, cousin or child. The relative may be contacted to confirm they are related to you;

• Your relative must have completed, or be completing the full duration of the course they are on, i.e. they should not have withdrawn before completing their studies;

• The International Family Award can be combined with the International Accommodation Award, but it cannot be combined with any other Awards;

• In the case of University partnerships where there is a tuition fee discount already in place, the International Family Award cannot be combined with the tuition fee discount, but it can be chosen instead of the tuition fee discount if it is of greater value;

• If you are in receipt of full funding from external sponsorship bodies (eg government, charity or private organisation), you will not be eligible for the International Family Award;

• If you are in receipt of an educational loan, you are eligible for the Award;

• The University reserves the right to vary all or any Award awards, discounts and regulations at its sole discretion.
